2016 Macedon Syrah

God damn we're excited about this one! In late 2015 we were offered the opportunity to lease a small 5.5 Acre block in Baynton East (Northern Macedon Ranges).   A beautiful 20 something year old block, planted to Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, Syrah and a mixed Bordeaux variety block. The soils are sand over clay and granite.

2016 saw us only harvest a small amount of Syrah as the vineyard needed a lot of work. We picked the Syrah at 11 baume, and used carbonic maceration to ferment the grapes. It was pressed into old oak with only 25ppm S02 added at bottling.
